  • Swedish industrial productivity solutions provider Atlas Copco is planning to expand its manufacturing facility in Wardenburg. The company will establish new production facilities for its planers and small pavers activities.
  • US-based online retailer Amazon plans to establish a new logistics centre in Germany. The centre will be located in the North Rhine-Westphalia province.
  • FedEx Trade Networks (USA) has announced the opening of new offices in Frankfurt and Hamburg. The new office is part of the freight-forwarding company's global strategy and will serve central Europe.
  • Kirin Europe, a subsidiary of Japan's Kirin Holdings, is to start manufacturing beer in Germany in October 2010. Kirin Europe will now produce Kirin Ichiban for sale in 23 countries across the continent.
  • Emergo Group, a medical devices regulatory consulting firm based in the US has opened a new office in Hamburg. The new office will expand its ability to serve medical device and in vitro diagnostic manufacturers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

  • Translation services provider TransPerfect Translations (USA) has opened an office in Düsseldorf to serve current and future clients in the area. The company sees North Rhine-Westphalia as a major European business hub.
  • Finland's BioSilta, a biotechnology company, has opened an office in Berlin. The company has developed and carried out specific cultivation systems for microbial culturing, protein production and enzyme screening in co-operation with the Technische Universität Berlin.
  • Altium Europe, a subsidiary of Altium, the Australia-based company which provides computer software for the design of electronic products, has recently moved its offices to larger premises in Karlsruhe as part of its expansion in Europe.
  • South-Korea based Sungan Machinery has launched a joint venture with German-based Pagendarm to create SAM Pagendarm, in Hamburg. The JV will supply coating and extrusion coating equipment and gravure and flexo printing machines for the flexible packaging market.
  • Coffee brand Nespresso, which is part of Switzerland’s Nestlé Group, is to establish a flagship boutique store in Munich in 2010.

  • French textiles retailer Aubade, part of the Switzerland-based Calida Holding, has opened a new store in Cologne. It also plans to open more stores in larger cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.
  • Miu Miu, a luxury clothing brand and subsidiary of Italy’s Prada, has annouced plans to open a new store in Frankfurt. The company plans to open 20 Miu Miu stores in Germany.
  • US-based Seapine Software has expanded its European operations and moved to a larger office in Munich to extend its relationships with customers in the region. The new facility will allow the company to triple the size of its staff in both sales and pre-sales support.
